Faculty Development Programme on “IoT and its application at IPEC Ghaziabad in Association with E&ICT IIT Roorkee

Three faculty members from Department of IT, ITS Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad ( Dr.Umang,Prof. Smita Kansal and Prof. Abhay Kumar  Ray) attended one week  Faculty Development

Programme on “IoT and its application” organized by Inderprastha Engineering College, Ghaziabad in Association with E&ICT IIT Roorkee,  during  10th -Dec-2019 to 14st-Dec- 2019. The objective of this FDP was to increase understanding and skill set of Internet of Things (IoT),sensor programming with NodeMCU micro controller, controlling the IoT device form web and mobile apps, storing the sensor data on AWS cloud ,API development for IoT and its real life applications of home automation.

Prof. Dharma P. Agrawal,  University of Cincinnati, USA and Mr. Umang Kejriwal ,Technical Expert form IIT Roorkee were the resource person of said one week faculty development programme . Prof. Dharma taken a session  on first day based on IoT and its application in our day to day life with simple example of IoT enabled sports shoes , smart bands and their functioning. Mr. Umang  conducted the rest workshop on discussion cum hands- on mode . Mr. Umang demonstrated the NodeMCU microcontroller and integration of many sensors(Like LDR sensor , DHT sensor, Smoke sensors , ultrasonic sensor, etc   )to this chips and its programming using Lua (Some sort of C/C++)language , blynk app introduction and demonstration, thingspeak framework and its demonstration, AWS integration to the microcontroller and storing sensor data on the AWS database.

 The FDP was very useful and we learnt many new concepts and hands-on based on IoT and its application to our day to day life.

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

I.T.S - Mohan Nagar, Department of Management, conducted ‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Program for underprivileged children on 8th December, 2019 on the topic “Food and Nutrition”

Student volunteers of I.T.S explained the concept of balanced diet to the children. They emphasised on why it is essential to pay attention to all kinds of nutrients like carbohydrates, proteins and fats, explaining the importance of each.

Also, the different types of vitamins along with their disease prevention were explained with examples.

The second session was on General awareness followed by a quiz session in which children participated enthusiastically.

The day concluded with the distribution of refreshments.

Faculty Development Program on Clinical Communication

Prof. Yachna Malhotra of I.T.S - Mohan Nagar Faculty of management Department, conducted Faculty Development Program on “Clinical Communication for the faculty members of I.T.S Dental College Murad Nagar Campus on 27thNovember,2019

Prof. Yachna focused on importance of Clinical communication in Medical Profession and for achieving professional excellence. With experiential exercises, and Listening techniques, she sensitized the importance of active listening to improve doctor patient relationship.

The training was a mix of both the slide show coupled with some interesting activities to sensitize the Faculty members (Doctors)  for giving effective and quality service in general and making their interactions with patients more polite, clear and result oriented.

Various exercises helped participants to identify specific tools they need to use, to gain control of their time. The learning environment was highly interactive and resulted in deep routed team cohesiveness among the participants.

Domestic Tour to Nainital and Jim Corbett for MBA (2018-20)

Department of Management at Institute of Technology and Science, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized Domestic Tour to Nainital and Jim Corbett for MBA (2016-18) Batch from 21st November to 24th November, 2019.

On day 1, various adventure activities like and swimming pool and games were organized. Students also visited famous Girjiya temple and river and got to know the interesting facts about temple .In evening students visited Jungle Safari also. Back at the Resort , The DJ night followed by dinner was organized for the students.

On Day 2, the group started for their visit to Nainital. The students enjoyed with  nature beauty on the way to Nainital and enjoyed photography at various points. They visited Naina Devi temple, seven points as major spots visited by the group. Students were exulted with sight seeing of "Naini Jheel" Where they enjoyed boating too. Students also got engaged in shopping, and other site seeing activities.  Fun filled day ended with the DJ where students enjoyed dancing. They enjoyed delicious dinner at Resort.

On Day 3, students visited Industry Uttranchal Ispat Himalaya Sariya . Student visited the manufacturing plant and seen the hazardous process of manufacturing of sariya. Students interacted with engineers and asked lot of questions related to manufacturing process, safety rules & processes. The group reached back to I.T.S Ghaziabad on 24th Nov’19, with lots of fun filled memories of the trip.

The trip was all about team building, adventurous activities, thrill, and making strong bond with friends.  Students had a great experience and a wonderful opportunity of learning the team work, knowing about different culture, foods, places.

Utthan Club Activity organized

Utthan, a CSR initiative of I.T.S - Mohan Nagar organised an activity based on the theme of "Children’s Day" for the school students on 22nd November, 2019 in the campus.

In the first segment of the activity, ‘Poem Recitation’ competition was held for the students of first to fourth standard. ‘Drawing Competition’ was conducted for the students of fifth to eighth standard and ‘Extempore’ was held for the students of ninth standard onwards.

In the second segment, Students performed respective activities quite well and with full enthusiasm. 

Student volunteers of PGDM first year explained the importance of celebrating Children’s day to them which is celebrated every year on 14th November.

Best performers were awarded with prizes by Dr. Vidya Sekhri, Director (Management) and faculty coordinators, Dr. Nitin Saxena and Prof. Shilpi Vaish.

All the students were given refreshment at the end of the session.

Management faculty attended India Today State of States Conclave

Management faculty members Dr Indraneel Mandol and Dr. Rajeev Johari attended India Today State of States Conclave at the ITC Maurya, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on 22nd November, 2019.

The Conclave was being organised by the India Today Group as a continuing programme of recognising the major achievements of the states of the nation within a competitive framework. The Chief Ministers of states like Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Puducherry were present on the occasion along with several ministers and bureaucrats from states that were to receive the awards. MrPrakash Jawadekar, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, was the Chief Guest for the function. The session was presided over by Mr Raj Chengappa, Group Editorial Director (Publishing).

At first the different Chief Ministers came forward to speak of the achievements of their respective governments. Thus Mr V. Narayana Swamy from Puducherry pointed towards the economic development in his state; Mr Jairam Thakur from Himachal Pradesh referred to environmental initiatives and developments in education; Mr Prema Khandu from Arunachal Pradesh explained the challenges of development in a hill state; N. Birendra Singh from Manipur discussed how they had managed to bring insurgency in the state under control.

Then MrJavadekar came forward to congratulate all the states on their accomplishments and quipped that cooperative federalism was exemplified as cooperation through competition. Along with Mr Aroon Purie, founder-publisher and former Editor-in-Chief of India Today, he then unveiled the new State of States issue of the magazine. Finally the awards were handed to all the dignitaries.

The occasion was instrumental in bringing together dignitaries from both the Central and state governments and facilitated the interaction on the roles to be played by each in the New India

Corporate Talk Session by Mr. Rajeev Mishra, Project Director –Gopaljee Ananda for MBA

Department of Management at I.T.S, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized Corporate Talk on the topic of “Changing Strategic Dimensions” on 22nd November, 2019.

He shared his own experiences how and why you can no longer just rely on the old formulas. He emphasized that it was not the results but right strategies with adaptability leads to sustainable success.

He started with Blue ocean and Red ocean strategy and emphasized the continuous interaction among changing dimensions. He said that change should not be considered only in terms of the processes, but should also consider the historical, cultural, and political features of the organization.

Successful change is a result of the interaction between the content or "what" of change; the process or "how" of change; and the organizational context or "where" of change. Based on substantial empirical research, he also presented 5 Central Interrelated Factors, which allow for successfully managing changing strategic dimensions: Environment Assessment, Human Resources as Assets and Liabilities, Linking Strategic and Operational Change, Leading Change, and Coherence.

He suggested that change must moves the organization forward and bundling of operational activities is powerful and can lead to new strategic changes. Employees should know that they are seen as valuable, and they should feel that the organization trusts them.

Mr. Mishra advocated that Success is no mystery. It takes positive attitude and determination to succeed. There were frustrations, fears, uncertainties and hardships but with each small step aligned with intended changes, it can be conquered. At the end of the corporate lecture, a special vote of thanks was given to him.

Guest Lecture on “Computer Applications in Management” for MBA 2019-21Batch

Department of Management at I.T.S – Mohan Nagar organized a Guest Lecture by Mr. Lokesh Mehra, Lead(Research) in  SSC, NASSCOM on the topic “Changing era of Technology & Technological Evolution” for MBA 1st year students on 21st November,2019.

While addressing the gathering, Director (Management) Dr. Vidya Sekhri welcomed and said that it is always proud moment for her being a Director (Management) to share dais with such eminent personalities her students from MBA students.

Mr. Lokesh Mehra has 25 years of vast Industrial experience in IT industry in the areas of e-learning practices and skill building initiatives. He also has an experience in strategizing, policy framing and implementation with government and industrial associations. He has been associated with various prestigious organizations such as Oracle India Pvt. Ltd., Edu-preneur, Microsoft, Cisco Systems and NIIT.

He shared about Technological Evolution, how things will change in future and which technologies would be leading the IT world by 2030.He also gave some information about Cloud Computing, IoT(internet of things), Artificial Intelligence, Big Data with the help of audios and videos depicting changing lifestyle of future world by using Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing technologies.

Automated systems would be the day-to-day life or regular components of our lifestyle.  To conclude he motivated the students and helped in understanding the need to change and update ourselves to survive in this World.This would also help to get success for which he suggested many ways and techniques. The session was highly interactive and interesting where student learned the practical aspects of industry.

At the end there was a student interaction session where the Guest answered and clarified students’ queries. It was a wonderful session. Participants enjoyed the learning filled experience.

Visit to India International Trade Fair 2019

Department of Management, I.T.S organised a visit for MBA (2019 – 21) and PGDM (2019 – 21) batches to India International Trade Fair, Pragati Maidan New Delhi on November 21, 2019. 

It is one of the largest integrated Trade Fairs with both B2B and B2C components.  It provides a great platform for trade and industry for sourcing, finding buyers, business interactions, technology transfer opportunities, test marketing, and market access. The theme of this year's Trade Fair was “Ease of Doing Business”. This fair also commemorated the rise of India's ranking in the 'Ease of Doing Business index' globally. The ease of doing business index is meant to measure regulations directly affecting businesses and does not directly measure more general conditions such as a nation's proximity to large markets, quality of infrastructure, inflation, or crime. This is an empirical research conducted by the World Bank to justify their work show that the economic growth impact of improving these regulations is strong. The status of 'Partner Country' had been bagged by 'The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan' and 'The Republic of Korea'was the'Focus Country'. Other countries participating in the annual fair are Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Egypt, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, the UK and Vietnam.

The students visited various stalls and had a chance to meet some of the participants both Indian as well as International companies. They had interactive sessions with them and discussed the ease and scope of doing business globally and domestically. They gained insights into the various challenges these companies face in doing international trade and how do they manage them. The students were also enlightened about the various advantages of participating in such trade exhibitions and fairs. They understood the role of Trade fairs as a means of showcasing the products and services and also increasing business and networking opportunities.

Alumni talk series 'samanvay' organised alumni talk on 20.11.19

Management department of Institute of Technology and Science Mohan nagar Ghaziabad organised alumni talk under the  MBA alumini talk series 'Samanvay' 2019 for MBA marketing specialisation students on 20th   NOVEMBER 2019. 

The distinguished alumini for the day were Mr. Kshay Sharma (MBA 2013-15), ASM, Cordlife Sciences and Mr. Rahul Sharma(2013-15) ASM, Cryoviva.This session was organized to give inside of the stem cell preservation industry.

In the beginning of the session Director Management Dr. Vidya Sekhri welcome the guest with plant sapling and brief the students about the importance of such sessions. Mr.Rahul starts his talk with the brief about this unique industry. He shared that there are only two industries in India who are in this business. Mr. Akshay briefed about the profile he is managing at Cryovia. He said that he has spend 4 years in this industry and his growth is tremendous.

They also discussed that opportunities for girls are very high in this industry since the customer in this industry is female section of the society. They also asked the students to study the basic concepts of marketing in depth since these concepts are having direct application in the market.

At the end of the session they shared some tips to crack the interviews in this industry.

Staff Development Program

Prof. Yachna Malhotra, Faculty of Management Department at I.T.S - Mohan Nagar

conducted a training program on "Professional Communication and Stress Management" at  I.T.S Dental College, Murad Nagar for the Nursing Staff and staff members of Library and Accounts department on 20th November, 2019.

Initially to get connected with the participants, an ice breaking session was conducted to  get affiliated with each other by introducing each other with sharing their feelings and disclosure of strengths and weaknesses so as to predict  personality traits of the participants.

The training was a mix of both the slide show coupled with some interesting activities to sensitize the staff members for giving effective and quality service in general and making their interactions with students more polite, clear and result oriented.

An exercise on Stress Management (Ballon Game) was conducted among the participants to make them understand and demonstrate the techniques to handle the day to day stress.  Participants were over whelmed with the outputs and experiences they had during the exercise. Again this was followed by Role Plays covering the situations from their day to day work routine in which all the members actively participated and understood the importance of professional etiquettes and how this can increase our efficiency and effectiveness at work place.

Prof. Yachna Malhotra offered thanks to all participants for their patient listening and active participation during the session.

The distinguished alumni for the day was Mr. Om Prakash Rai (MBA 2005-07),  Assistant General Manager Macleods Pharmaceutical limited.

The objective of the session was to answer the queries of the students related to pharmaceutical industry.
In the beginning of the session Director Management Dr. Vidya Sekhri welcome the guest with plant sapling and brief the students about the importance of such sessions. Mr. Om Prakash Rai breifed about the profile he is managing at Macleods and also discussed how a fresher can prepare himself or herself for a better position in pharmaceutical industry. He also talked about the importance of Summer internship done by the student after 2nd semester. He told that most of the questions in final placement interview will be from Summer internship experience. Student to go through the different profiles available in the pharmaceutical industry and prepare themselves with the terminologies required for this industry.
At the end of the session hi discuss the importance of e commerce in pharmaceutical industry through the applications which are coming in present time providing online  medical services.

5th I.T.S CXO Meet - 2019, on the focal theme: "Innovation, Creation & Integration  : Role of CXOs & Way Ahead " was organized by Department of IT on Saturday, 16th November, 2019 

at the institute with its inaugural ceremony in Chanakya Auditorium. The event was formally inaugurated with the Lamp Lightening before Goddess Sarasvati by the Vice Chairman, I.T.S-The Education Group, Sh. Arpit Chadha, Director-PR, I.T.S-The Education Group, Sh. Surinder Sood, Guests including Dr. Amitabh Rajan , Chairman at Reserve Bank of India Services Board, Dr. Vineet Kansal , Pro Vice Chancellor at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University ,Shri Arvind Thakur , Senior Advisor to the Board, NIIT Technologies, Shri Manoj Chugh ,Director(IT), President - Group Public Affairs, Member Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra,  Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey and Director-IT, I.T.S Ghaziabad.

In his welcome address, Shri Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S – The Education Group welcomed the guests and congratulated Department of I.T. for taking such initiative. He said that we all are fortunate to have leaders from Top-Industry & Academia under one roof of I.T.S. He also encouraged all the delegates to learn and listen all the dignitaries so that it can help them in coming time.

Creation & Integration  : Role of CXOs & Way Ahead” and spoke about the objectives and need of the event CXO Meet-2019. He said that we, at I.T.S, Ghaziabad are committed to continuously work towards identifying latest industry trends and equip our students with require understanding of latest developments in IT which helps in overall development of our students and preparing a pool of budding technocrats who are ready to work in the industry

Shri Surinder Sood, Director-PR, I.T.S - The Education Group welcomed the guests and congratulated Department of I.T. for taking such initiatives where student can directly listen and meet the person who are leading the IT Industry & Academia.

While addressing the gathering Dr. Amitabh Rajan, Chairman at Reserve Bank of India Services Board advised all the delegates that apart from updating ourselves we should respect others . He said that India is a developing country. Students can prove themselves very helpful in the noble work of its development. Students are the backbone of any society and the nation. The society and the nation have immense faith in its youth power. Hence, it is the duty of the youth to tackle every problem efficiently.

Dr. Vineet Kansal, Pro Vice Chancellor at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University while addressing the gathering said Universities play an important role as leaders in teaching and learning, in education, research and technology. .The most important role they have been assigned is the production of highly skilled manpower and research output to meet the industry goals. Universities transform people's lives through education and through the wider impact of their research. Universities help students to develop the skills and knowledge employers need. He very nicely describe the role of MOOCS and also advised students to enroll for online courses like NPTEL, Swyam Prabha and many more.

While addressing the audience Sh.Arvind Thakur, Senior Advisor to the Board, NIIT Technologies said that NIIT Technologies is a leading global IT solutions organization, enabling its clients to transform at the intersect of unparalleled domain expertise and emerging technologies to achieve real-world business impact. He advised students to be prepared for the upcoming challenges in the IT industry like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. He said that students should train themselves in a way so that they are industry ready when they pass-out from the colleges.

Sh. Manoj Chugh, Director(IT), President - Group Public Affairs, Member Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra, while addressing the gathering said that students should always respect the course what they are opting and should prepare themselves for the industry . He said that students of I.T.S are fortunate to have events like CXO Meets where industry leaders come and share & guide  them for the upcoming opportunities which they have to face after completion of the course.

Inaugural ceremony was followed by one panel discussion. The panel discussion was based on the theme “Leading Innovation & Technology : Future Ahead” where dignitaries including Ms. Anita Jha, Sr. Vice President, Sulabh International, Shri Prakash Kumar, Country Head (IT), BMW, Shri Inderjeet Singh, Chief Cyber Security Officer, VARA United, Shri Munish Chawla, Co-Chairman, Regional Committee for Entrepreneur & Start-ups discussed about the what are the various issue in the IT world which gives birth to various attacks and they also discussed about the security policies  framed by the government for public and private and timely in their methods for detecting and preventing attacks. mechanisms for cyber security. They also shared some live use cases with the audience

At the end of the event Director(IT) & Convener of CXO Meet, Dr. Sunil Kr. Pandey presented a vote of thanks and advised all the students to be aware about the new challenges in IT industry.

Overall the CXO Meet ended on a success note.

 in Retailing” by Mr Ajay Chhabra, Senior Digital Transformation Consultant & Marketing Head India- Global Consumer Brand. Mr.Ajay has around 20+ years of experience in Digital Consulting, Brand Mgt& CRM. He has strong experience in working directly with the practice leaders with respect to branding and digital marketing. He very vividly shared the concept of branding and CRM. He aligned the concepts with various examples from the industry. He shared his experience with GE, GM, Microsoft, Motorola, Coca-Cola etc. He talked about the relevance of retail branding and CRM. His exhaustive experience with multiple digital marketing agencies including Ogilvy One & McCann MRM Worldwide has been more on the branding activities.  He supported the concepts by using highly exciting videos on branding & CRM. The session was highly interactive and interesting.
